Learn why we celebrate Veterans Day

Veterans Day, also known as “Armistice Day,” honors the end of World War I, and it is a day dedicated to the cause of world peace.

The Department of Veteran Affairs has set up a Veterans Day Web site that offers a teacher’s guide for busy moms who home school their children, a patriotic fact sheet, a history project, and even a first person account of the burial of the unknown soldier. Visit the White House Lessons of Liberty, the Veteran’s Experience, which is an opportunity for Americans to learn more about our country and its values, as well as the people that have been called upon to defend its freedom.
