Bureau’s actions bother dozens of home-schoolers

SPRING VALLEY, IL – At least 24 home-schooling families in Bureau, Stark and Henry counties say their teaching methods have been questioned and they have been threatened with losing custody of their children.

Home-school advocates say that beginning in October, Bruce Dennison, regional superintendent of schools of the three-county area, sent a truancy officer, accompanied at least twice by police officers, to the residences of home-schoolers.
