Madison, S. Dakota board works on home school policy requiring public school enrollment
Sweet Madison Central School District’s superintendent is recommending that the school board allow home-schooled students to participate in interscholastic activities, but with some kind of enrollment requirement.
The 2003 Legislature gave districts the power to set their own policies on whether to permit home-schooled students in district activities. The change went into effect July 1.
Yankton, Vermillion and Sioux Falls have decided against permitting home-school students to take part in activities while Huron, Brandon Valley and Sturgis have approved the idea. Read more…
