Home-School Activity Issue Still Creating Debate Across South Dakota
VERMILLION — While school districts have already decided whether to allow home-schooled students to participate in school-sponsored extra-curricular activities, the issue continues to generate heated debate across the state.
Vermillion became one of the latest schools to make the decision, with its board voting 4-1 last week against allowing home-schooled students to participate. The decision took effect immediately.
Last year, the South Dakota Legislature passed a bill permitting each school district to decide on home-schoolers in activities. Vermillion joins Yankton and Sioux Falls as school districts which will not allow such participation. Read more…
