Homeschooled fourth-grader places third in geography bee

A 10-year-old home-school pupil took third place Saturday in the 2004 National Geographic State Bee.

Connor Magnuson of Bloomfield, a fourth-grader, was competing for the first time. He has four more years to compete and has set his goal on eventually winning the bee.

He was competing with 100 other pupils from around New Mexico representing public, private and home schools. Competitors range from fourth to eighth grade. Read more…
