Baseball team home-schooled
Brooks Stephenson couldn’t fathom high school without the opportunity to play baseball.
A home-schooled student since the sixth grade, he considered enrolling in private school when he entered ninth grade two years ago just to have a chance to play.
Instead, the junior pitcher decided to join the Wake County Homeschool team, where he has played varsity baseball for three seasons.
Stephenson is among 12 home-schooled players who make up the independent team.
In its fifth season, the team has grown from an unknown program to one that has a 30-game schedule this season, including varsity games against Ravenscroft and Cardinal Gibbons. Read more…
