Home schooling, un-schooling practices catching on

The Liningers are one of many Springfield families that have chosen to teach their children at home. While the number of registered home school students in Lane County has increased from 1,127 students five years ago to 1,750 today, educational philosophies within the movement vary.

‘(Home schooling) is a vibrant activity,’ said Dove Lininger, the mother of Noah and 6-year-old Eden. ‘We didn’t start home schooling because we thought public schools were bad. It was, can I do a better job?’ Read more…
