Top Speller Headed from Florida To Washington For Contest
DADE CITY – A 12-year-old home school student heads to Washington. today to participate in the 77th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee.
“I’m both excited and nervous,” said Rachel Hernandez of Dade City. “Tense kind of, too.”
Rachel will compete against 264 other spellers from the United States, Europe, Guam, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Bahamas and American Samoa.
The competition will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Read more…
