Fear of bullies boosts home learning in Scotland

GROWING fear of school bullies is forcing record numbers of Scots parents to educate their children at home, Scotland on Sunday can reveal.

Almost 500 youngsters now receive full-time education at home north of the Border, an increase of nearly 40% since 2001.

Home education campaigners say the increase mirrors growing fear of playground violence and intimidation and is the main reason given by parents who take their children out of conventional schooling. Read more…
