NewsOK.com has the second in an interesting two-part series on homeschooling.

Lynne Stewart is a frugal woman. As the mother of 11 children and with a 12th due in November, she has to consider every purchase.

She grinds ancient grains such as spelt, kamut and millet for nutrition and cost savings, makes bulk purchases and cooks from scratch.

She said she was sick for 10 years with food allergies and decided to learn everything she could about nutrition and healthy foods. She laughed as she remembered that she first thought millet was just birdseed.

The Enid family makes it a priority to sit down together for all three meals, with the main meal at noon. They share cooking and cleaning tasks, and each family member contributes his special talent to the day-to-day responsibilities. Read more…
