This Pittsburgh site reports on the growing trend of government Schools trying to recapture the homeschoolers with online learning. Many parents who might not otherwise homeschool, see this an an option.

More than $6 million in local tax money will go to online schools this year as parents pull their children from traditional public schools in growing numbers.

Cyber charter schools allow kids to study everything from science and math to history and reading on computers in their bedrooms, at kitchen tables, or wherever else they choose, all in the convenience of their home rather than in conventional brick-and-mortar environs. State law requires districts to pay 80 percent of their per-pupil costs as tuition to cyber charters, an expense that only figures to rise as the schools’ popularity continues to soar. Read more…
