Schooling away from home

Daily Local again with a story about an art program to supplement homeschoolers.

EAST VINCENT — The 14 students, scattered among four tables on the Parker House porch at Camp Sankanac, gazed outside at French Creek and its banks to sketch charcoal drawings of the scene.

Art teacher Wendy Young moved from table to table of the laughing, chattering children to help them hone their skills.

‘Too much talking,’ she said. ‘Not enough drawing.’

These middle schoolers were among the students from about 50 families that take classes through Aleithia Learning Community, a tuition-based Christian program for home school families, at the camp facilities. Read more…
