Former futures commodity trader A. Apamah Thevy, 46, took two years to adjust to staying at home after giving up her job to home-school her children.

�I felt that I was not spending enough time with my children and I wanted to teach them many things as well as build their character,� she said.

Thevy took all her children out of school three years ago but her eldest son, Dashel Nishanth Perera, 16, could not get used to home-schooling and returned to school after a year because he missed school activities. So Thevy taught Ron Ashvin, 14, and Sonia Ashley, 12, subjects such as History, Geography, Mathematics, Science, Bahasa Malaysia and English, and also exposed them to many hands-on projects.
