Children are schooled in self-sufficiency

Nice. We’ve been homeschooling for years. When are our children going to start acting so cooperative?

Mark and Pamela Hall of Binghamton are home-schooling their six children, who range in age from 8 to 16. But beyond their classroom the children are learning a multitude of skills their parents hope will benefit them throughout their lives.

‘We want our children to be self-sufficient and independent,’ said Mark Hall, who remodels homes.

While Benjamin, 12, rolls dough in the kitchen, his sister Elizabeth, 16, leans over a sewing machine, meticulously working on a seam. Nearby Rebekah, 10, and Hannah, 8, play a game, until Pamela reminds them they’ve missed some laundry. They answer with a cheerful ‘Yes, Ma’am,’ and fold the items with the same smiles displayed during their play. Read more…
