Homeschooled kids state cases at debate tournament

NAPERVILLE — Kurtis Alexander has competed in debate competitions for five years. His sister, Laura, has done so for three.
But the Alexanders, who live in Cicero, Ind., don’t compete for their local high school’s team. Kurtis, a senior, and Laura, a sophomore, are home-schooled and, thanks to their parents, they’re competing this year as a brother-sister team in the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association’s policy debate competitions.
