Things get freaky for the Baudelaire’s as they go undercover in The “Caligari” Carnival. With the aid of their Veiled Facial Disguises (two headed Elliot-Beverly and Chabo the Wolf Baby), and some skillful sleuthing, the children find more valuable VFD information. An undisguised Olaf is in typical malevolent form as he continues to stay one step ahead of the children. The book is particularly harsh, and plays out like a Shakespearean tragedy.
