Even more homeschooled now
The number of children across the United States who are being held out of public schools in favor of being home-schooled is higher than most people would think.
According to the National Home Education Research Institute’s Web site, approximately between 1.9 and 2.4 million children were educated at home in the United States during 2005 and 2006.
David Callejo, an assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at West Virginia University, said home schooling was originally a domain for families who were religious and did not believe the values taught in public schools met their own. Read more…
