A home education is not so new

An excellent history of education by a homeschool student.
I am a homeschooler and do not struggle with “socialization.” My mom, far from tying me to her apron strings, has encouraged me to join 4-H, learn tae kwon do and help at a children’s camp last summer.
However, the socialization myth might be laughed at today if people knew the history of American education. There is a serious misconception that homeschooling is a strange innovation of the 1980s. But in fact, the government schools we see as “normal” today did not exist several hundred years ago.
