Homeschooler wins Scrabble tournament

A Laurel Park teenager who participated in the World Youth Scrabble Championship in Malaysia this week garnered a sportsmanship award and finished 28th out of 54 players.
Lia Campbell, who traveled to the competition with her father, the Rev. Bill Campbell, was one of just two Americans competing. A 17-year-old homeschooled senior, she was awarded 500 RM (the equivalent of about $150 American dollars) for the Jean McGriffen Award for Sportsmanship. Read more…
