And medicine itself requires the help of reason. Cornelius Celsus Cornelius Celsus (ca 25 BC—ca 50), Roman author of De Medicina, was considered to be way ahead of his time in regards to his teachings on maintaining good health.  Ironic he died so young.  He gets points taken off for blood-letting instructions and for obsessing about vomit, but otherwise –  he’s got some good suggestions.  1.
