- Where she went, review 2012-05-17 via Roscommon Acres Before I start this review, I think it only fair to note that Where She Went by Gayle Forman is not the kind of book I would normally read. I somehow missed the bit about this being YA Romance when I requested to be included among the reviewers and since I think the closest thing to romance I have read outside of Song of Solomon is Jane Eyre, fans of the genre might not find my review very helpful.I didn?t like it. At least not very much. Read more...
- 31 Thursdays~ Doing It All 2012-05-17 via peacecreekontheprairie.com
Over the years, I have had to accept that I can?t do it all every day. So, I make a list of a few things that MUST get done. I get them done and then move onto the next thing. Sometimes things come up, or God decides that my must get done list is not really important either. So, I must listen to Him. However, in my list making, check the boxes mind, I can get a little out of sorts if those must get done things don?t happen. I have to accept this with grace and let my pride take a hit. - Flag Line for Chase Marta 2012-05-17 via Learning at Home ?Your arm is gonna get tired,? he said, as he passed. He was wearing a cap that identified him as a veteran.?It already is tired,? I said, ?but I don?t mind.?My boy went to Afghanistan, and he walked out of the airplane when he came home. I am so grateful for that.Standing in a line and holding a flag was the least?really, the very least?that I could do to show my respect to the family of Chase Marta, a local boy turned hero who was killed in Afghanistan.I went today with my daughter. - Works for Me Wednesday- Merrill Readers for Remediation and Intervention 2012-05-16 via My Domestic Church
Last month I blogged about the change I made in Izzy's reading program.
We have been using Dianne Craft'sDaily Lesson Plans and suggested resources and have seen great progress just since January.
This program recommends the use of the Merrill Readers. These readers from A-H take the student from a pre-K reading level through a solid third grade reading level and are very good for reading intervention and remediation. Read more...
- Mom, Would You Love Me if I?m Bisexual? 2012-05-16 via Frontline Moms
By Lisa Cherry?Mom, would you love me if I?m bisexual??That was the painful question posed by a 13-year-old girl to her mother. The mother, whom I met recently, was horrified. She and her daughter are both Christians. How could that sweet little girl?while wearing her purity ring and saving herself for her husband?ask such a question?I will tell you how. She has been deceived by the sexual predator forces of our day that mask themselves as our friends. She has learned the thought process well. Read more...

- Virtual Notebooks~ 2012-05-16 via Learners At Home
We have used Microsoft OneNote for about two years now and my teen absolutely cannot live without his OneNote. He uses it for just about every class except Math at this point.I just learned about this online Notebook platform called "mySchoolNotebook" and from the way things look it seems quite simple to use. - I added some heavy words to the very end of Norah's daily 2012-05-16 via Veronica Boulden
I added some heavy words to the very end of Norah's daily goals today:"Take responsibility for your own learning."I took some time to sit with her and explain that from now on, every single day she does her morning routine (which is almost every day of the week), I want her to come to me once she is done with her list and ask, "What do you want me to do for school today?"I thought about asking her to do this a while ago, but I wanted to make sure she was in the habit of doing stuff everyday first.
