Miracle on 49th Street

Josh Cameron has it all: a World Championship ring with the Boston Celtics, an MVP award, a clean-cut image, and the adoration of millions. What he doesn’t have is family. Until the day 12-year-old smartaleck Molly Parker confronts him in a parking lot and claims to be his daughter—the only daughter of Jen Parker, Josh’s college sweetheart and the still the only girl he’s ever loved. Trouble is, Jen Parker died last year, and now Molly has tracked down the father she never knew, the one her mother never wanted her to know about. Josh Cameron cares about two things only: himself, and basketball. The last thing this superstar wants or needs is a 12-year-old daughter. Yet this isn’t just any 12-year-old. Mr. World Champion has finally met his match.

In the tradition of About a Boy comes a smile-inducing sports and holiday novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Mike Lupica.

another heartwarming young adult novel to cherish

"Miracle on 49th Street," by Mike Lupica (252 pgs., 2006). Lupica has always been one of my favorite writers. He usually writes about sports. This is his third Young Adult book. Succinctly, it's about a 12-year old girl whose Mom had died & she just discovered that her real father is now a famous professional basketball player. He was her Mom's sweetheart all through college. Then her Mom got pregnant, didn't tell her father & moved to England.
They moved back to the States when her Mom became very ill & moved in with her best friend. After her Mom dies, Molly becomes the legal ward of her Mom's best friend & her husband. She shares their home with their own 12-year old daughter. Molly never feels at home. She finally meets up with her Dad. The rest of the book is how these two strangers finally became a loving father & daughter. It's very moving. It's tearjerker. It would make a great Christmas movie for tweeners & their parents.

A Mother and Daughter Review

My daughter and I enjoyed Miracle on 49th Street. The story line kept our attention and the characters were all likable except for Josh's agent. It tugs at the heart. We both thought the plot was very similar to The Game Plan, the Disney movie. If you've seen that movie and read this book, you know what we mean. We wondered if the movie was based on this book.

EXCITING BOOK

I would recommend Miracle on 49th Streetthis book for 4th-6th graders. This book will keep you hanging off your seat. In this romantic comedy!! It is going to be an adventure you'll never forget!

Predictable but intersesting

It was an ok book but it was to predictable. I like how it uses some real elements but some made up things. It was a coll book and i would recomend it to kids from the ages 10-14.
