Katie's Picture Show

Katie visits the gallery for the first time with Grandma and discovers that art is wonderfully exciting, especially when five famous paintings come alive for her! She spends the day enjoying The Hay Wain by John Constable, Madame Moitessier Seated by Ingres, Les Parapluies by Renoir, Tropical Storm with a Tiger by Rousseau, and Dynamic Suprematism by Kaimir Malevich.

Great for a little girl interested in art

My 2-year-old loves this book. It's a nice story about a little girl exploring an art museum and introduces your child to the concept of art, artists and museums. My daughter loves all the Katie books - I recommend any of them.

fantastic!

When read to children once, it quickly becomes a favorite in the house. It is a great way to get children familiar with famous works of art in a fun and interesting way. When they go to the museum and see these pictures, the immediately recognize them and are able to relate to this story.

Excellent story for any age

This book was given to my son as a gift by his Cousin whose name is, surprise, surprise...Katie. He was only 6 months old at the time, and I have been reading this book to him at least 2 times a week ever since, and he is now 2 1/2. He now asks for it by name and wants me to read it to him almost every night. It is a great book to peak the interest of a child, when preparing them to go to the Art Museum for the first time. As well it is as interesting and entertaining to the adult reading. James Mayhew introduces your child to famous works of art without boring them. I'm looking forward to our first visit to the Art Museum when my son can actually see the paintings from the book in real life. I highly recommend this book for any age group.
