Homeschool Robotics Team Wins Slot for International Robotics Competition

F.I.R.S.T. is great organization I have been involved in myself.

ABINGDON, Maryland, April 3 /Christian Newswire/ — TechBrick is a home school robotics club that has fielded eleven robotics competition teams over the past five years through an international robotics competition sponsored by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).

Homeschooled robotics team

I can’t say enough good things about FIRST Lego League. Wayne Walker tipped me off to this story about a mostly homeschooled team. I currently coach one of three teams of 8 homeschoolers we formed for this years competition. This is one activity that homeschool Dads really get into.

It’s both for local students competing in the First LEGO League Competition where the traditional children’s toy becomes a catalyst for education.
“It worked!” Brandon Shepard, a local homeschool student, exclaimed as he stepped into the Hoffmans’ basement one rainy Monday afternoon.
Before Brandon could even take off his jacket, his friend A.J. Hoffman, out of sheer excitement, ran across the room, grabbed Brandon and picked him up off the floor. Read more…

Homeschooler’s robotics video

We formed a FIRST lego league robotics team last year made up entirely of homeschoolers. As part of the project, the kids made a short video about nanotechnology. They wrote, directed and produced it by themselves. It’s very funny, especially the bloopers at the end.
My son did the video production and he would be thrilled if you leave a comment on Youtube or here.
