Wisconsin Homeschooled athletes more common in college
In Wisconsin the establishment prevents homeschoolers from joining PS teams. However, this is not true in all states and may vary within some states.
High school provides an opportunity to play and gain notice for athletes who seek to play in college. But for home-schooled athletes, it’s a different story.
Only students who are enrolled in a public school can play on an athletic team, according to Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association rules, which leaves home-schooled students to fend for themselves. Read more...

Art show displays talents of homeschooled
Who knew such talent could be expressed in so many young people? The Plymouth Arts Center does.
This past month the arts center proudly showed off the artistic skills of local home school groups. All ages, from first grade to high school, had art on display. Creativity was encouraged and there was no limit to what kind of artwork they could submit to the art show. Diversity in each individual's art was expressed by the mediums and techniques of the paintings, drawings, sculptures and other art-related projects. Read more...

Homeschooled Girl Wins Geography Bee Title
Way to go! There are also other stories of homeschooled finalists in Alaska and Wisconsin.
With calm determination, 14-year-old Caitlin Snaring snared a title on Wednesday that only one other girl in geographic history has held: She won the National Geographic Bee.
In Snaring's first-time run at the bee in the nation's capital, the home-schooled eighth grader from Washington state gave a flawless performance -- not missing a single question over two days of national competition -- and took home the title. Read more...
